Membership Application

If you have not had membership with the Professional Teachers' Association of the NT (PTANT) before, your Public Officer will need to complete the Membership Application Form as the first step to becoming a member of the PTANT.

The PTANT's membership period is from 24 May to 23 May each year. For new members, membership fees will be calculated on pro-rata. Once you become a member, you will be contacted to renew your membership at the beginning of May each year. 

Membership fees are $2 per member. For example, if your association has 20 members, your membership fee for the PTANT will be $40. 

To apply for membership to the PTANT:

  1. Complete and submit this membership application form
  2. Please upload a copy of your association's Constitution
  3. Please upload a copy of your association's incorporation certificate
  4. This application must be made by your Public Officer
  5. Your application must be seconded by the Principal Officer of a current member of the PTANT

Once submitted, your application will be considered by the PTANT Executive Management Committee for approval. For membership eligiblity, please see the PTANT constitution

Pending approval, you will be invoiced accordingly. Once payment has been received, the association's membership will be confirmed.

Associate Membership

To apply for an Associate Membership, associations must demonstrate the following:

  • the association is an incorporated association
  • the association has a demonstratable interest in the objects and purposes of PTANT
  • the association is affiliated with a professional teaching association

Associate Members are required to provide a copy of their certificate of incorporation and their Constitution at the time of submitting their application with the Professional Teachers' Association of the NT (PTANT).

Associate Members will need to demonstrate their affiliation with a professional teaching association through one of the following examples:

  • evidence of working with other professional teaching associations (e.g. regular meetings, membership, letter from the association etc.)
  • professional learning/development participation
  • demonstrate impact of student outcomes
  • member list identifying teachers
  • activities that the association delivers

The decision to confirm membership is subject to PTANT Executive Management Committee approval. 

PLEASE NOTE: Under an Associate Membership, PTANT does not provide financial assistance in the form of grants.

Membership Renewal

Steps to renew membership:

  1. Complete and submit a membership renewal form – PTANT will email members at the begining of May each year with an invitation to renew membership
  2. Pay the membership renewal invoice
