Festival of Teaching 2019
About the Festival of Teaching
The Festival of Teaching, coordinated by the Professional Teachers’ Association of the NT (PTANT) and Member Associations, is a one-day biennial event offering educators professional development across the curriculum and all levels of schooling.
On Friday 23 August the Welcome function and art exhibition was held at the Darwin Entertainment Centre.
On Saturday 24 August, 310 educators gathered at Palmerston College to make the most of the Festival’s professional learning program, including:
- Two keynote speakers, Mr Steve Francis and Ms Gabbie Stroud;
- 50 workshops spanning the curriculum; and
- Trade displays providing access to educational organisations and resources.
At the end of the day the Network function was held at Rydges Palmerston to unwind and reflect.
This was the fourth PTANT Festival of Teaching. The goal of the Steering Committee is to deliver the preeminent professional learning event of the year for NT teachers.

We value the extra our Teachers ‘do’! That’s why in 2018 we ran the inaugural Fetch Christmas Drawing Competition: 3 prizes for the 3 different age divisions, $100 for each student and a $1000 Fetch Wishlist for the Teacher: our way of saying thanks and that we value the extra that you do.
At Cider House Tech, we help you create a hands-on environment that encourages students to become truly active learners, to ask great questions, design experimental approaches, critically analyse their data and think like scientists. Whether it be science, STEM, geography, Health and PE or other discipline where first hand data is essential to learning and engagement then we have the equipment, resources and curriculum materials to support you as you support your students.
Visit us at the Festival of Teaching and talk to us about our new wireless sensors for first hand data and our innovative Smart PE programs.
